Congratulations! You survived 2023’s spring travel season! Whether you arrived at your destination problem-free or had to endure cancelled or delayed flights and unprecedented crowds, you’ve made it to the point where you can sit back, relax and start planning your next trip! And to get you excited about different possibilities, we’d like to introduce you to three new properties which opened last year (we like to give hotels a few months to work out opening kinks before recommending them to you) that just might be featured in this year’s vacation photos!

AMAN NEW YORK

Aman Resorts, one of the world’s most exclusive luxury hotel brands, opened its newest property, Aman New York, on August 2, 2022.

Located in the heart of New York City on 57th Street & 5th Avenue in Manhattan, the suite-only property occupies floors 7 to 14 of the newly renovated Crown Building. Originally built in 1921, the historic structure once served as the first home of the Museum of Modern Art. It has undergone a large-scale renovation and has been transformed into an urban oasis featuring Aman’s signature luxury & tranquility while still retaining much of its original architectural splendor.

The property contains 83 one-bedroom suites, with various connecting options to create family-sized spaces for those of you who travel with kids and/or extended family. The property’s largest suites – the Aman Suites – also offer living and dining areas with tables for six, kitchenettes with counter seating and large walk-in closets.

But even the smallest suites are large by New York standards. Junior Suites range from 745 sq. ft. to 775 sq. ft. and the largest Aman Suites range from 2000 to 2770 sq. ft. Inspired by Japanese minimalism and Aman’s Southeast Asian roots, the décor throughout utilizes natural, organic materials to create a tranquil environment. Every suite also offers a functioning glass-enclosed fireplace, oval soaking tubs, marble rain showers, double vanities, and heated bathroom floors.

As a testament to the brand’s wellness philosophy, the Aman New York dedicates 25,000 sq. ft. of space on floors 9 to 11 to the Aman Spa. It features seven treatment rooms, three integrative wellness treatment rooms, two Spa Houses, a fitness center, a hair & nail salon, an indoor pool and a yoga & Pilates studio.

Available for private use, the Spa Houses offer double treatment rooms, Banya and Hammam rooms and private outdoor terraces with hot and cold plunge pools. It’s a private spa experience akin to one at Aman’s remote retreats, offering a truly relaxing and transformative experience in the middle of a bustling city.

If you’re looking for a more comprehensive wellness experience, the Aman Spa also offers an integrative wellness experience, combining ancient Eastern techniques with cutting-edge technology. Services include traditional Chinese medicine therapies like acupuncture and herbal treatments, in addition to medical evaluations & blood panels, cryotherapy, and individually-tailored wellness programs.

Garden Terrace at Arva

The 14th floor is dedicated to dining and entertainment. The Aman New York features two fine dining restaurants – Arva, serving seasonal, sustainably-sourced, classic Italian fare, and Nama, featuring Japanese omakase-style dining. There is also a wraparound outdoor terrace with reflective pools and fire pits – the Garden Terrace – where you can enjoy open-air seating year round thanks to a retractable glass roof. And for live entertainment, the Jazz Club – located on the cellar level – features world-class bands and an extensive list of cocktails in a speakeasy-like environment.

The Aman New York is located in midtown Manhattan, steps away from Central Park, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the Museum of Modern Art and Carnegie Hall. And if you’re in the mood to shop, 5th Avenue provides plenty of options!

SUSURROS DEL CORAZON

Auberge Resorts’ newest offering, Susurros del Corazón, began welcoming guests in November 2022.

‘Where the jungle meets the sea’ is where you can find Susurros del Corazón. Situated on a private stretch of beach about 45 minutes north of the Puerto Vallarta airport, Susurros del Corazón offers 59 studios, casitas and suites and 30 two to six-bedroom villas and oceanfront residences overlooking Bahía de Banderas in Punta Mita, Riviera Nayarit on Mexico’s Pacific Coast.

Each of the resort’s 59 thoughtfully designed rooms and suites offers an indoor-outdoor experience with open floor plan layouts leading to floor-to-ceiling sliding doors and private terraces. Garden or ocean views are available, with some suites offering plunge pools on the private terrace.

Here, the rooms offer plenty of space for couples and families alike. The studios range from 800 – 820 sq. ft., casitas range from 1080-1090 sq. ft. and the one- and two-bedroom suites provide 1500 sq. ft. of living space. The décor combines Auberge’s classic luxury with touches of artisanal Mexican textiles, creating a warm, relaxed environment in which to enjoy the beauty of the natural environment that surrounds you.

The villas, ranging from two to six bedrooms, are great options for those of you traveling with a large or extended family. They will be available to rent beginning in the first quarter of 2023.

La Boquita

Susurros del Corazón offers great Mexican dining options. Their showcase restaurant – Casamilpa is a Mexican farmhouse restaurant serving seasonal, locally-sourced fare. The resort also features La Boquita, an open-air taqueria offering classic Mexican cuisine, Don Surf for coffee & pastries, and La Piscina, where you can enjoy handcrafted cocktails and Mexican favorites poolside. There is also a swim-up bar at the adults-only pool reminiscent of 1960s Acapulco serving fun retro drinks.

The resort also features Onda, an Auberge Spa, which houses 11 private treatment rooms where you can enjoy ocean-inspired body therapies. Wellbeing is emphasized with aesthetic treatments, traditional body work and daily fitness classes at their Fitness Center & Movement Studio.

There are plenty of activities to enjoy as well. The 33-acre property includes three infinity-edge pools cascading down to the private white sand beach, where you can enjoy surfing, swimming and paddle boarding. You can also try your hand at other activities like salsa lessons, cliff hiking and horseback riding. For more unique experiences, you can take part in board building workshops, agave mixology classes and tracking whales by sonar.

For the food lovers, Susurros del Corazón offers an exclusive experience with the resort’s chef where you can sea forage, handline fish for local red snapper and helicopter to Jalisco for a private tequila tasting.

And for those of you traveling with children, Charralitos Kid’s Club offers activities like paddle boarding and surfing and sailing lessons for the younger guests.

ROSEWOOD VIENNA

Luxury hotel brand, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, opened their newest hotel and their 5th property in Europe, the Rosewood Vienna, in August 2022.

Ideally located in St. Peter’s Square, or Petersplatz, in Vienna’s Old Town, the Rosewood Vienna contains 71 guestrooms and 28 one-bedroom suites, housed in a beautifully restored 19th century building that was once home to the headquarters of Erste Group Bank AG.

The renovation seamlessly combines old world European charm with modern sensibilities. In keeping with Rosewood Hotels & Resorts’ A Sense of Place® philosophy, the hotel is decorated in a neutral, classic color palette but each room has its own individual character and pays homage to Vienna’s past though the use of thoughtfully considered objets d’art, plush fabrics, brass fixtures, and natural textiles like wood and marble.

The elegantly-styled guestrooms and suites offer guests both space and privacy. The Deluxe rooms offer 334 to 538 sq. ft. of living space, and the largest guest rooms, the Mansard Premier Rooms, range from 338 to 614 sq. ft. in size.

The Rosewood Vienna’s suite offerings are all one-bedroom suites, with the regular suites ranging from the Junior Suites (527-667 sq. ft.) to the Executive Suites (646-764 sq. ft.). Their House suites are their largest suites, each offering about 1000 sq. ft. of living space, including a master bedroom, a private kitchen and a living and dining area. These suites can be connected to a Deluxe Junior Suite if you need additional space. The largest of the suites is the Hoffman House, which is the hotel’s Presidential Suite. At 1916 sq. ft., this private residence also includes its own private entrance, a French balcony with views of the Petersplatz, a dining room with seating for eight people, and enough connection options to create an eight-bedroom suite!

The Rosewood Vienna’s A Sense of Place® Philosophy is also reflected in their dining options. Neue Hoheit Brasserie, the hotel’s main restaurant, is an upscale brasserie-style restaurant showcasing authentic Austrian fare. Also on the property is Neue Hoheit Bar – the hotel’s intimate rooftop bar, offering handcrafted cocktails as well as spectacular views of the city – and Salon Aurelie, the hotel’s all-day lounge, serving coffee, afternoon tea and small bites.

For those of you who wish to dine privately, the Garden Room, on the 6th floor, can be booked for small gatherings or larger group events.

Vienna State Opera

The hotel also features a hair salon, a fitness center and Asaya Spa, which offers world-class amenities and treatments focused on holistic health and wellbeing.

Rosewood Vienna is in a fantastic location, just a short walk away from the Hofburg, St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the Vienna State Opera, as well as the city’s best shopping and restaurants.
